You've been wanting one for several years? That's quite a while...

Not sure how effective your results are going to be by asking someone in a thread, but if you guys are serious about wanting a waffles invite, have you tried buying one? I recall seeing a website where individual waffle users sold invites for like $25 USD.

I wonder how waffles.fm feels about that. Most invite only sites get pretty upset about that as it kind of circumvents the referral/personal voucher that is supposed to come from an invite only community.
Also I find it funny that the people who do little to no uploading are the first ones to ask for a handout to a different site, and usually the first ones to complain about the site that you uploaded music to. I've wanted an invite there since shortly after oink went down, but I don't feel like I have the right to ask for one in a forum,I feel like I need to give more to this site first and I upload quite a bit.

Well I tried doing the interview for What.CD, I tried 3 times and I got it on my third, so now I'm happy.

3 times?
Rofl! (sorry)
You'd had better read
http://whatinterviewprep.webs.com/ before you start the interview.
And imo waffles is not so great as what.
What is the better website. More torrents, more seeds, more users, own irc network, huge tracker (2 server only for the tracker afaik) and you can join without an invite, just pass the interview. That is really easy if you read the website (see above) or have experience with torrent and music encoding etc.
You will find a lot more torrents from waffles at what but you can't find all lossless torrents from what at waffles. Another point is that you can't find some genres at waffles. E.g. They have only one or two (not very much) lossless happy hardcore compilations/albums.
I started at what and later I get an invite from another elite user for waffles and I was really disappointed as I saw how less and bad seeded stuff they have.
Btw: I have invites but I won't throw out my invites and I won't sell them. Perhaps you will understand it but however you still have the chance to do the what interview. I recommend that. And it is a true fact that what users who got their acc via interview won't risk to be banned etc. So they are the better what users imo

Well I could've gotten it my second try but I made one small mistake in the first section of the interviewers, even though I got it right on my first try as they were the same interviewer. And yes I actually read that but sort of skimmed through it.
And What looked better to me than waffles...

Yea, I don't think it's right/fair either... but what can you do? It's a broken system, but it's something that works.

I've heard of some sites that if they catch wind of it they'll delete the new account and the referrers account. I almost want to say they'll go up one more level keeping some accountability in the system for making sure people invite quality users.

I took the test too, after hearing of it.
Really piece of cake.
You just need to have basic knowledge about FLAC, mp3 (CBR&VBR), a tiny bit of Ogg, and torrent sharing. After that you'll rock at the test.
If you wanna give it a try, there's a lot of FLAC over there, it's pretty impressive. And there are seeds too.

^^lol the seeder to leecher ratio currently is 33.61 which makes it hard to seed.

yes, what is very hard to seed. waffles is much easier, but the selection is not nearly as impressive, and it completely lacks the beautiful organization that makes what such a joy to use.
what just had a 5-day freeleech on all flac, it was orgasmic! i managed to download more than 300gb (about 800 albums) :D
the only downside is that it's going to take the rest of my life to tag them all...
i'm going to try to work up a list so i can post it and take requests. that'd be much easier than trying to upload everything...

Duh, isn't foobar2000 of any use, with it automatic tagging system ? It seems pretty useful, but I used it only for a bunch of albums :p.
And yeah, right now it pretty hard to seed anything. The best way to improve your ratio would be to up new CD's.
That's what I intend to do soon.

yes foobar has autotagging features, but i'm very particular about my tags. plus i use a lot of tags that foobar can't fetch automatically, like my genre/style system, release type, and country tags. actually i've just been copying tags from the mp3 versions of the albums, which i already have sorted. with MP3tag it just takes a few seconds to duplicate everything and to send the tags to the new flac versions. still, it takes time...
