Full Version: Final Fantasy Shrine Forums are watched by labels.
FLAC Share - FLAC Music Downloads on Rapidshare > FLAC Share General > Off-Topic
Avaerluk
Hi, I haven't posted in a while, because I'm working, but I think you should know this. On FF Shrine forums, from which I take most of my music in lossless format is being watched by labels and composers, so many of the links are starting to be deleted, because those users are being approached by music labels, which request (politely) that they're albums are to be taken down from the forums. Therefore I think we should discuss whether FLAC Share forum should or shouldn't be a private forum with invitations only. What do you guys think? I don't want the FLAC Share die like FF Shrine is slowly going towards it's own inevitable fate. :(

An interesting topic Avaerluk. I would be all for that idea if it means keeping FLACShare safe from destruction, because this place is just amazing.

I've also seen a LOT of FLACShare links all over the net in other forums, so there are people in here already leaking stuff out to everyone else without contributing back to FLACShare which I find a bit slack.

e.g. I saw an amazing post from FLACShare (Katy Perry - One Of The Boys) that had been posted on another forum and as a result of this those links were deleted, which destroys / completely reverses the efforts that person had put in to upload that music in the first place.

So yes, an interesting topic Avaerluk. I'm in no strong position in this site, I'm not sure many people know I actually contribute to this place, but I don't want this place to die and so yeah, the admins will have to make that decision.

Thanks for the heads up though smile.gif

It's gonna greatly limit user base growth. I think that it's a good idea, but it's not yet the time.

Something like this or similar to this may happen eventually (making the forum invitation only). However I don't think it would be for awhile, if it does happen. Not to mention there's nothing keeping an invited member from sharing the links, or another member inviting someone from an anti-piracy organization to FLAC Share, whether intentional or unintentional. So the idea is kinda flawed anyway.

But we'll see.

Yes, agreed with nbn and iFLAC.

Great. BTW. I have just been banned for no specified reason. Forever! I wanted to subscribe to a specific thread where Game music rips are posted and then BAM! I got message that I'm banned for no reason and that it will last forever. I'm starting to fear that forum is already lost.

Ouch, i feel for you Avaerluk. I'm still with a Final Fantasy Shrine Forum..but i never conribute. I only contribute to FLACShare, that's where my loyalty lies..

Why did you remove your post?

I felt it's strange that nobody wants to discuss tightening registrations policy, it would be a bold move.
I think that FS is not there yet, it's still fairly small. But it's gaining users quickly and I can easily see it being a target of antipiracy measures within a year.

FF Shrine forums seems to be offline now.

I removed my post because I have sometimes the feeling that I am doing here a self conversation. - and I am not very happy about that. I mean you have to wait ages to get an answer to your post. This is in my opinion not good.

In my previous post I have said that it is time to change the rules in this forum. The reason behind my argument is that flacshare is getting to famous. In entering the word "flac + ..." in google search you find may links that are connected to this forum.

I think that it is not bad to make FLACShare.net something more special for the internet world for example in putting a limit for new members that could entering this forum per month.

First - do you have any idea what's wrong with Final Fantasy Shrine at the moment?

Second - I think it would be safer if Flac Share required new users to acquire an invitation. On the other hand however I don't know how to verify new users. For exampe - who would invite me? ;)
