I have a copy protected CD (Meat Loaf - Couldn't Have Said It Better) here and I ripped it 4 times now (2 different drives; with and without AnyDVD). I just don't get a good rip.

Has anyone here tips on how to remove "Copy Control"?

By chance, have you tried holding down the Shift key? You didn't state in your post, and it looks like the CD was released before this method was discovered (according to Wikipedia).

Interresting way to break a copy protection... But it didn't really help.
I don't hear anything wrong but the LOG doesn't really look perfect. This is the best it gets:

You could try the marker trick

I'm not going to do anything to the CD itself, it's not that important.
Also it wouldn't help much I guess. AnyDVD already removed the second session but the results didn't change.

The rip itself is perfect, your CD doesnt necessarily have to match the Accuraterip DB seeing as you might have a different pressing, what you can do to ensure users that the CD itself is original is take a picture of it:)

All tracks would have "Cannot be verified as accurate" if it was a different pressing. But the confidence numbers are pretty low so it could of cause be that the others didn't read the CD correctly and I did. Who knows...

i think that since the test crc matches your copy crc you probably ripped it perfect.

Use EAC 0.95beta3 version of EAC, it can correctly detect scambled TOC's on copy protected cd's. The latest version doesn't read native (non-corrupted) TOCs. TOCs are often deliberately corrupted as an anti-copying measure. The developer had to remove this feature from later versions of EAC due to legal infringements.

EAC developer statement:
The german magazin c't published an article whether EAC is or is not violating a german law against circumvention of copy protections on audio CDs. Some of the experts they asked had the opinion that the function of retrieving the native TOC is working at the limit of legality, at best. Due to that article and to eliminate any possibility of legal problems, I decided to remove that function (although I am pretty sure that it is absolutely legal).

Yes, I knew about this, just not which the last version supporting this was.

But now I see that AccurateRip support was introduced after this (an it's the only thing that indicates an improper rip), so reripping would be useless.

try "test and copy" in burst mode, if both crc's match, it's a good rip, dvd rom drives aren't the best for extracting audio data, better using a cdrom drive. i have both on my desktop and get better results every time with the cdrom drive.

"test and copy" is safe to use if secure won't extract error free, but, from looking at log file, i can't see anything wrong with it, test and copy crc's match.

That's not always true.  I've run into a few bad burst mode rips with matching CRC's that had skips

probably if you got a lot of background tasks running where the cpu is getting interrupted. i have one desktop pc that's dedicated purely to ripping and haven't had any problems using bust mode, plus all my services are tweaked to optimum performance, for minimal cpu interrupts.

In case anyone wants to try EAC 0.95b3 on his CDs:

It took a while until I found a working link, so I'm making a mirror here.

Thanks very much Laughing Man lucky I saw this as I just bought a CD by John Mayer - On Any Thursday and I am having the same sorts of trouble ripping it.
The holding the shft key trick did sfa so next I was going to try the black texta trick but if this version of EAC works then it means a lot less stuffing around. Good one :)
LaughingMan
It didn't work for the CD I was trying it on, but maybe it helps you.
